Removal of eroded tape using Laser

There is increasing awareness amongst patients with the risk of tape or mesh erosion. This is indeed a recognised risk. However, a balance view should be taken weighing the symptoms of urine incontinence, the available treatment options, the anticipated chance of improvement and also the potential complications. Unfortunately there is no treatment which works well with no potential side effects. Again, it is a case of careful patient selection, advice and informed consent.

If the complication of tape erosions occur, removal of the eroded tape can be considered instead of the traditional open surgery. The laser procedure is less invasive and performed via a telescope in the water pipe. Please see the videos on the video page of this site.
